Students participating with the ISS Mission Team had the opportunity to see their experiment launch into space on the Cygnus Space Vehicle live from Mission Control at NASA on Wednesday, September 18th. The students designed an experiment testing whether a microgravity environment affects photosynthesis in plants. The 4th- 9th Grade team of students got VIP treatment as they met with the NASA Flight Director and Astronauts in the Mission Control Viewing Room. The students’ experiment was activated on the International Space Station on Monday morning and astronauts will be sending updates to let students know how their experiment is doing. Special thanks to the Science Department, Nanoracks, FISE, Oribital Space Science, and Mr. Abbey, our School Board President, for sponsoring this amazing opportunity!
