Course Overview

 

 

 

  Text Box: Entrepreneurship is an elective class designed to introduce the students on the courses of establishing their own businesses and companies. The class will start from the conceptualization of an idea of a business opportunity, the pre-operating stages, sourcing out for investors to selling their products. The students will be taught to identify and classify types, advantages and disadvantages of different business organizations, such as sole proprietorship, partnership, company, limited liability corporation and others. Among the many highlights of the course is the creation of their own business plan, distribution of shares and stocks, revenue projections, financial statements, ROIs, establishing their organization structures, creating presentation materials  for their business plans, products, sales and marketing. They will also be taught on how to publish and produce their own marketing materials; calling cards, brochures and letterheads. 
Students will learn to use Microsoft Word for the documentaries; Microsoft Excels for the financial and revenue projections spreadsheets; Microsoft Publisher to create cards, brochures, ads and websites; Power Point for their presentations; and graphic editing.
In each of the activities that the students will create, the students will have the opportunity to present and explain their ideas and creations. Techniques in presentation and public speaking will be discussed. At the end of the course, students will have experienced and gained confidence in public speaking. 
Finally, the top 8 students in the class will comprise the 2006-2007 Team that will compete in the initial qualifying round for the 2007 Global Enterprise Challenge, an annual competition on enterprising organized by NASA.
