Welcome to the Second  Grade.  I look forward to an exciting year with all of my students. We will be using the text, abstract concepts and hands-on experiences to give the children a well-rounded academic experience.

We will be learning math, science, social studies, art, good citizenship, and language arts in the classroom.

The students will be allotted time in centers. The centers will include reading, math and science activities. They will be fun and interactive using computers, Play Station 2, science equipment, books on tape, and manipulatives.

Students will work individually as well in groups throughout the school day.

Each child will be working toward the Second Grade Benchmark in reading and writing tasks.

 

Music and PE will have special teachers. Computer instruction will be taught in the classroom.

 

Computer lab and Music are once a week, PE is three times a week.

48 - #2 pencils

2 boxes of 8 washable markers

4 glue sticks

1 pair blunt edge scissors

1 ruler with centimeters and (12 inches)

2 tablets/packages handwriting paper( ½ inch rule)

1 pkg. multi-colored construction paper 9X12

1 supply box

6 folders with pockets and brads

2 solid color, wide rule spiral notebooks (one subject)

2 white binders with pockets (1/2 inch)

1 roll of paper towels

1 bottle hand sanitizer (8oz)

Text Box: This year, the students will learn the importance of reading and they will be rewarded for every book they read. Every Monday the students will select a chapter book and read it throughout the week. The following Monday, they will present it to the class. After every child in the class has read 10 chapter books, a pizza party will be held at the school!
